Our organic blood orange varieties begin ripening in the winter here in Ojai, California and are ready to harvest around February through April.  The cool nights help develop their complex flavor and their distinctive crimson flesh. 

Originally native to Sicily, Tarocco Blood Oranges are one of the most popular orange varieties since the 18th century due to their blush flesh, superior sweetness, high vitamin C, and antioxidant content.  This delicately flavored citrus fruit is not only prized for its juicy sweetness, but also its enticing berry like taste.  Moro Blood Oranges boast a dramatic deep red to almost black flesh with sweet raspberry like flavor. The Moro Blood Orange variety is also believed to have originated in Sicily although closer to the beginning of the 19th century.
